Deviation Actions
EDIT: Appears they have fixed the 'click and drag' option and returned it to the way it was. Good.
I see DeviantArt have been messing around with their site layout again.
They've now made it impossible to shift around images in your galleries by clicking and dragging. As soon as you click and drag on an image that bloody drop down menu appears so you can 'drag and drop' your selection into it. Well isn't that nice........and pointless. I've been wondering why I've been seeing so many favourites galleries of artists featuring their own work. I thought they might have been a little egocentric but now I know it's just some accidental 'drag and drop' action courtesy of a crappy redesign!
The upload section of DA might not be pretty but it does allow faster uploading with its 'drag and drop' facility (why am I putting those words in inverted commas? Meh, who cares!). But why make it so awkward to rearrange your galleries with this new procedure? I like certain images in a certain order and now that is all f****d up!
And why the hell does DA make it difficult to add bold font, bullet points, etc to any written stuff you wanna add in journals and the likes????? Surely they could just have a basic html editor like blogger or wordpress does?
DA is still the best of a bad bunch (CGHub is dry and lifeless; ImagineFX's website is as interactive as a broken speak-and-spell) but it sure does have a lot of pointless and easily fixable niggles.

I have a blog..
To the odd one or two readers who see this (emphasis on the word 'odd') you can click on the link shapula.blogspot.ie and see all the various crappy things I'll post as well as some work-in-progress stuff, thoughts, ideas, the secrets of the universe........etc.
Or this could all be a massive scam and I'll post nothing at all! There's only one way to find out.......visit my blog :D
** Apologies on not being around much lately. Busy with stuff. But thanks to anyone who drops by this little corner of the web :D

Where to Buy Zbrush 4R6 and comments
:bulletyellow:Pixologic released Zbrush 4R6 the other week and the major new feature is ZRemesher which is a vastly improved automatic mesh retopology that takes over from QRemesher. It's really good and it works just like they promised in demo videos.
While I was downloading the update the other day (my Wacom nib was broke so couldn't do any sculpting!), I was eagerly reading what others thought about Zremesher on various different forums.
Obviously on ZbrushCentral it was nothing but praise (which is to be expected).
But on the blenderartists forum there was one guy who was complaining about it, saying it couldn't make 'proper' animatabl
Random Thoughts - July 2013
Random thoughts direct from my head to yours through the magic of a DeviantArt journal:
:bulletorange:- When making my Chicken Man http://shapula.deviantart.com/art/The-Chicken-Man-Zbrush-383867302?q=gallery%3Ashapula&qo=0 image I actually bothered researching hens and roosters before I made him. The complexity of the wattles (the dangly bits under their chin) an the comb (the frilly thing on their head) is much more complex than I thought before. Also, their feet are actually quite beautiful when you study them! It's always handy to have as much reference as possible to work from and I have a massive folder filled with files of images
Akin Bilgic's ACCURATE DISPLACEMENT MAP TUTORIAL
I came across this great and easy to understand tutorial by a guy named Akin Bilgichttps://www.cggallery.com/ on how to create accurate displacement maps for rendering 3d objects. Heres the link to the tutorial: https://www.cggallery.com/tutorials/displacement/
The above image shows the effect of a displacement map on a model.
Akin runs through the process of creating displacement maps in both Zbrush and Mudbox in a step-by-step manner and how to import and use it in Vray/Arnold renderer. He explains exactly what a displacement map is and how it works in a way that won't have you scratching your head in confusion like some tutorials often d

Stash is a big reason I haven't uploaded in weeks.. Initially it would always freeze. Seems better now, but I've since lost the cluster-uplad habit.
How have you been, Mr. Pistachio?
